Before speciation,
when we were neighbors in Gondwanaland,
we celebrated the fruits of the Malagasy Orgeny
which brought us together.
We frolicked in the polar fields
with hyraxes,
other echidna,
and your family of platypi.
We carefully avoided the hypsilophodonts
but cried a pool of tears
after losing our brethren to the Pterosaurs.
You conjured the One True Echidna,
and beseeched her for revenge!
She summoned a meteor
from Antares Prime
guided by her chimera progeny
to bring about the polar fauna armageddon.
Just before the behemoth hit
which brought darkness to the earth for millenia
and smothered our predators,
she poisoned your talon
and sharpened my quills.
We burrowed into our cave
and avoided mutation
through selective breeding.
We now live among the bipeds,
but remember our ancestral amity.
